BUSTXT

I have no idea how Winnipeg Transits new BusTxt works.

I know how to text message, hell I can use T9 predictive text input on my Nokia. But I have no idea how to use bustxt, and I'm generally fairly computer savvy. If me, someone who may not be the most brilliant mind in the world yet perfectly capable of compiling a Linux Kernel, someone who can take apart a cell phone or laptop computer and fix it, someone who, if it weren't for laziness and lack of time could compile their own Linux distro from scratch, if someone like me can't use BusTxt.. who can? Teenagers? Is this a sign that I'm getting old? Somehow I refuse to believe this. I think that BusTxt, while generally a GOOD IDEA, was poorly executed. There has to be a better way. If anyone out there uses BusTxt frequently, please let me know. I like to think most people are just using Navigo on their crummy useless iphones. Speaking of iphones, Someone out there is working on porting Google Android to your useless you can't change the battery easily proprietary piece of garbage iphone.. so you have that going for you. Anyways , back to bustxt.. A for Effort, F for execution.

Active Procrastination

So I'm at work today and the mail comes in and theres a letter about the Active Transportation workshop coming up. That they'd be all excited to have me come in and add my opinions and such to the mix, learn about whats happening, you know.. all that bullcrap. Of course, today being the 16th, and the actual date of the Active Transportation workshop being YESTERDAY, the 15th, well, that shows the brilliant minds at work there. I mean, do you want people PLANNING changes to the roadways when they can't even PLAN a PROPER MAILER?

Seriously I have no opinion one way or another on "Active Transportation". I think we do need cycling routes and such.. but whether this incompetence is on purpose or not, its a douchebaggy way of getting your way and THAT I don't stand for.

I came home and checked my mailbox and got the exact same letter. And I live a fair distance away. So.. yeah. Ridiculous.

"Respect is Mutual"

Ever notice how government supported industries like to put up signs that say "Respect is Mutual"? I've noticed how you only tend to see them in places like the Winnipeg Public Library or Winnipeg Transit. Now, its not that I disagree with the premise, truly you should be respectful towards people. However, I find it telling the types of places where the signs are posted. What they're really saying isn't "Respect is Mutual". What they're actually saying is "We don't respect you, we think you're garbage, and you need to realize that if we deign to get off our high horses to help you, we set the terms and conditions. We're not here for your convenience.".. I find its not preaching for mutual respect at all. Otherwise why the sign to insult our intelligence? Why have I never seen such a sign anywhere that isn't government funded?
